Voyageurs National Park is a water-based national park in Minnesota where you must leave your car behind and take to the water to fully experience some of northern Minnesota’s most scenic fishing lakes, islands and shorelines. Explore the park by motorboat, houseboat rental, canoe or kayak. The interconnected waterways provide recreational boaters with an unparalleled opportunity to explore the northwoods lake country.
Numerous Minnesota recreational opportunities abound in Minnesota’s Voyageurs National Park and nearby communities –canoeing, kayaking, scenic Minnesota hiking and prime Minnesota fishing!
Overnight visitors can stay at over 200 designated Minnesota campgrounds or houseboat sites throughout the park; a free overnight permit is required. Visitors may also choose to stay at one of several northern Minnesota fishing resorts and campgrounds in the park’s gateway communities.
